The cord from the probe to the themometer readout melted. I had used it previously without problem but this time I was grilling salmon and there was some flare up. The sleeve covering the wires melted near the probe and the wires inside must have suffered as well because it quit working.
This type of themometer is a great idea. Especially if you grill out during the cold winter. Stay in the house and keep warm until you are buzzed by the remote.
About a week ago I emailed Taylor but I haven’t heard from them yet. Finally I made the trip to Target where I purchased it and my money was nicely refunded.

What else can I say, Works as expected. Just select the meat type; beef, pork, chicken, etc. Then Select how you would like it; rare, med rare; med, med well, and well done. the pager vibrates, and beeps, which you can change the volume or just switch off so it vibrates only.
Just clip it on your belt put the meat on the BBQ and go about preparing the rest of the meal without poking your head out in the cold and rain to see if it is done. So far, I have used it about a half dozen times, on a bone in Prime Rib, whole chickens, chicken breasts, and thick cut pork chops.
I have also used it in the oven, the probe wire is small enough that it does not disturb the door seal.

I purchased this item at another retailer (wish I would have gotten it here!) and have used it twice already. The price was great! I had a corded one before that didn’t have the remote, but wanted to try this. I used it on the grill to cook some chicken and had no problem with the cord at all. It was great because I didn’t have to constantly run to the grill to check the temp — I did once but then realized I didn’t have to and waited for the beeps (and it was cold out). The chicken breast turned out well. I used it in the oven this weekend for a roast, and again, it was great. The meat was done really well and cooked just the way we like it. I like that I don’t have to spend all my time in the kitchen checking and checking the temperature. I truly didn’t worry about the roast until I got the beeps. Can’t wait to try it again for the holidays
